Review

I know that this is a phrase that I probably overuse to no end, but I really really loved this book! Once again I was completely blown away by just how deep this middle grade series can get. We've had good vs. evil, boys vs. girls, beauty vs. ugliness, truth vs. lies and now we've been introduced to the concept of Past vs. Present. When Quests for Glory came out, I wasn't all too convinced about there being a new trilogy surrounding these characters, but after reading this book I feel like The Camelot Years makes a lot of sense in Agatha and Sophie's storyline, actually following their story which they are going through after graduation.

As always, I loved the friendship between Sophia and Agatha, even though this book didn't show that much of it. And what I also really loved about A Crystal of Time was how confused I was as a reader about Rhian's loyalties. I definitely felt like Sophie who was actually going through all of the confusion in the book while she was pretending to be Rhian's queen.

Tedros kind of annoyed me to no end in this book, if I'm being honest, mostly because of how he refused to trust and be nice to Sophie (which, while unsurprising definitely struck me a bit since Sophie is definitely my favorite character in this series). I mean, I totally get that Sophie messed things up way bad in the past, but she has definitely saved their asses enough times for Teddy to cut her a little slack to be honest.

The reveal of the true parentage of both Rhian and the Snake was definitely a plot twist I did not see coming. I will definitely have to keep that in mind next time I reread this series since I'm assuming there might be some foreshadowing of that in the previous books. But if I'm being honest, the biggest plot twist in this book was definitely at the end which left me absolutely both heartbroken and utterly shocked. I knew that there was going to be a sixth book in this series, but I definitely was not expecting something so dramatic to happen. I am definitely super excited about the next installment and will probably slowly die in agony on the inside until it's released.
