★ ★  ★ ¾ STARS

I really got some Frostbite vibes off of this book, am I alone in this? All of Mythos Academy go to a luxurious ski resort, evil forces are at work, and Gwen is getting some extra fighting lessons on the side with someone she desperately wants to get together with but can't. It's Rose and Dimitri all over again, and you know what? I don't mind it one bit.

Just like with book 1, the only reason this book got a teensy quarter of a star taken off my review was because it was incredibly predictable to read (sorry! I think I've just read too many books, heehee).

Spoilers from here onwards.

Preston was ultra suspicious to me from the beginning. I don't exactly know what it was, but I saw the warning signs (Daphne never getting a good look at him, him always disappearing at convenient times, etc.). But even though he felt very off to me, there was always some small part of my heart that hoped that maybe he was a good guy after all and that Gwen would be able to get over Logan with him. And to be honest, even though I knew Preston was evil, it still kinda broke my heart when he tried to kill Gwen.

And poor, poor Oliver. I had such a big sympathy for how he felt about Kenzie. I really hope that he eventually finds someone to love but I'm also extremely happy that he and Gwen have put aside their differences and have become friends.

Gwen's kiss with Logan was such a big moment, in my opinion. First of all, my inner fangirl did a massive dance when he kissed her, and second of all, I loved just how vulnerable and powerful that moment was between the two of them. I know that the reason for their kiss wasn't exactly the most romantic, but it did feel incredibly intimate and loving. I hope that they end up getting together soon. Like ASAP.

I also really love how Gwen is discovering more and more of her powers. It feels like she is starting to find her footing in her life but it also feels like this is all going to end up in a massive war between her and the Reapers which makes me really scared for her. But, I also feel like she's found her inner badass to be able to survive.
